About 25 years ago I was going to put a 244 in a Massey tractor to farm with, just cause I like the way they sound, found one in an Oliver combine, talked to Twin City Engine Re-builders at that time, they were a Continental Dealer, they told me to find a 226 and OH that cause the 244's all cracked between the valves. I still run that 226, bored 40 over, It's my hay baling tractor, don't have much power and nothing on the bottom end, but wound up on the baler it works good. I have a 44 puller with a warmed up 260, it will out pull that 226 about 3 to 1. I would make a new plan.
