Half the battle with these old things, especially if you don't have access to manuals or are knowledgeable about them yourself, is finding the right information. I wouldn't be half as good at fixing mine if it weren't for the internet.
I am curious about the lack of compensating spring on the 202 and again I wonder what it's exact function is on tractors that do have it.
As for your friction disc, the hand throttle should have a detented piece that the hand throttle sits in to hold it in position which (in my opinion) would make the friction disc unnecessary.
