Been a long time since I worked on a cylinder. Not sure what yours looks like but I know on some you have to tap the end plug-where the chrome rod goes into the cylinder-down into the bore an eighth to a quarter inch to expose the snap ring. Then pry the snap ring out and then pull the chrome rod and plug out of the bore. If you see no snap ring showing anywhere this may be what you have. Other cylinders you have to take the fitting out of the opposite end where the rod goes in and then pull the rod out a little while looking down in the fitting hole and there will be a snap ring on the end of the rod that you have to pry off and then the rod will come out. This is about all I remember. Hope this helps.
