Bruce, spring on throw out bearing lever engages the pressure plate fingers to work the clutch plate. Did you line up clutch in center of pilot bushing. If it is a new pressure plate sometimes they block fingers until it is installed and you remove spacers before putting motor back in. Let me know how you are doing, not really anything in manual for diagrams to go by. I have had mine apart acouple of times, no problems. I do have parts incase you need something. Good luck
