Been working on JD tractors for thirty years.I think I looked under the seat once.Parts books dont lie.If you have one of them cheap seats I want it.Your seat does have a shock on it,its most likely only a small part of the problem. There is two adjustments on it,one is for weight,if your weight is to much for what it is adjusted for, your seat will hit bottom. The shock just like on a car keeps it from moving either direction, slows it down..round that shock just like on your car is a good sized spring, which holds your car up,in your case it would holds your seat up If you put to much weight in your car it will hit bottom too.Look under the front of your seat under the latch .Blow the dust, corn and hayfields out of ther.Get every thing that fell out of the tool box and every thing that was put along side the seat out of there and take a look.Your adjusting bolt will be rusty, thats the bolt that comes out the front of your seat under the latch. This bolt has a lot of threads on it and will need to be replaced if you cant turn it.When turned in the right direction it puts pressure on the coil spring. These seats in their day were King of the fields. Your should fix it right so when you turn the key you get the ride of your life.FOR more info contact rbbbjb@yahoo.com

Today's Featured Article - Fire in the Field A hay fire is no laughing matter-well, maybe one was! And a good life-lesson, too. Following World War II many farm boys returned home both older and wiser. One such man was my employer the summer I was sixteen. He was a farmer by birth and a farmer by choice, and like many returning soldiers, he was our silent hero: without medals or decorations, but with a certain ability to survive. It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D ... [Read Article]
