The owners manual says : The tension of the steel compression spring can be adjusted to conform to your weight.This enables the seat to"float"when you are traveling over rough ground.To make the adjustment,turn the weight-adjusting screw clockwise or counterclockwise until the indicator in the lefthand side of the seat conforms to your weight. If this doesn't work you may have to replace the spring if it's tired or broken or other internal parts.
