Hi The answer I got was the tractor might of had a very tiny amount of pressure to keep it going. or more likely it was over full of oil, and splash lubing just enough until it wore and jammed the top shaft between 2 gears. That is what I heard a very experienced John Deere mechanic told the guy that owned the tractor. The pump was totally shot and not enough metal filings in the trans for it to have just happened recently . Like I said I never did it and Sadly this is all I know about it. Regards Robert
