It is a great buy. Not to be negative, but while there are still folks out there that will sell old 2 poppers for a song, most people have an idea of their value. Look carefully at expensive deal stopper issues such as the crank splines on the clutch side. If they are worn too bad, you will spend loads getting and installing a new crank. If it will not run, no way to know if the head or block is cracked, etc. Issues like carbs needing cleaning, etc., are what most sellers say is the reason the tractors are not running. It makes it sound like an "easy" fix. Think about this. If it was such an 'easy" fix, why would the seller not fix it and get more money?

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
