Hey Glen my friend, I ACCEPT THAT DARE LOL Ive owned several A, 60, 70 etc with like a Char Lynn unit up on top spliced into the steering shaft THAT TURNED SWEET N SMOOTH N EVEN N EASY as easy and probably BETTER then several factory units I owned (I used to buy n sell two bangers in the seventies n eighties)
Many had an automotive belt driven pump n reservoir and others, of course, the behlen pump on the governor.
A Factory conversion problem is its NOT just the whole pedestal but the in line PS Hydraulic Pump and those lines n fittings etc etc that need swapped out. PLUS so many of the wiper seals and pins in the pedestal need repaired plus an old hydraulic pump leaks n needs resealed.
TO ME ITS SOOOOOOO MUCH EASIER TO ADD AN AUTOMOTIVE BELT DRIVEN PUMP WITH RESERVOIR AND A CHAR LYNN UNIT UP IN THE STEERING SHAFT
But to each their own,,,,,,,,,,
Hope to see you and the family in New York in July

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
