Ray, there are 3 things that MUST happen to properly time any New Holland baler. What Dan said about needles and plunger relationship is totally correct and more acurate, but hard to explain. So let's try a more simpler method. 1. Set the plunger like Kelly shows you in that photo. 2. Needles MUST, I repeat, MUST be all the way back in home position.(Finish turning the knotter/needles forward untill they are back home against the stop mechanism.) 3. Align the marks on the knotter driven sprocket and the casting immediately to the right of the sprocket. You should now be timed. By the way, your feeder unit does not need timed on a 268 baler. Also, I doubt that the baler ever was out of time. Something else happened and the safety latch apparently is not working. But that is a whole other story. Steve
