This message is a reply to an archived post by John Whiteker on December 28, 2013 at 18:42:02. The original subject was "ISO Wheels for McCormick Deering No. 7".
I believe that my original rims were cut off and replaced with a truck rim to allow pneumatic tires to be installed. However, when I look at other original No. 7 mowers on the web, all of the spokes look a bit flatter than mine, which are slightly oval. Most of them also seem to have a two bolt clamp system on the inner part of the wheel that clamp it to the axle. Mine has keyed axle shafts and my wheels are actually held on by a center bolt with a large cupped washer that bolt to the axle. Any ideas on these differences? I"m starting to wonder if my mower was actually a rubber tire model from the factory.
