No, it's not as easy as it looks. I haven't done it, but I have read about others who have. I think you have to move either the transmission and/or the wheel frames to allow for repositioning the planting units on 30" centers. Involves cutting the current mounts off the frame and re-welding them where they aren't in the way of the planting units. Not to mention, you need to be a pretty good welder to re-weld those re-positioned mountings perfectly square. When the 7000 Planter was new, the factory offered one frame designed for wide rows and another one designed for narrow rows. 1977 Deere Price Book says narrow row model could be adjusted for either 30, 32 or 34 inch rows. Wide row model could be adjusted for 36, 38 or 40 inch rows. Good luck!

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
