New Idea was bought by AGCO and the products were folded into AGCO-Hesston and then finally Massey-Ferguson. The technology of the 5209/5212 lives on in the 9.3' 1359 Massey. As such, I would expect parts availability not to be a problem. I believe New Idea provided the 5209/5212 to other manufacturers to be sold under their own brand, but I'm unsure which manufacturers did this. These machines are a reliable unit and an easy puller. Some concern is the solid hex drive shaft and method of disk pod lubrication. Later models had a segmented hex shaft, which mades replacement much easier and had grease-able pods, such that you then don't have to disassemble the disk pod unit to fill with grease. Before you buy check out the disk pod timing making sure the disk knives are lining up correctly... this eliminates the possibility of a bent hex shaft. If you have the opportunity get the operators manual, read it over and check the machine out before you buy. Farmers are like most other folk.. some take care of their equipment, while others don't know what a grease gun is for.
