Net assembly was very finicky to changing humidity and crop moisture requiring a lot of adjustment. The net feeds through 2 rubber rollers which build up static which will cause the rollers to wrap with net rather than feeding the net into the bale chamber. The dual twine arms were prone to plugging full of crop which prevented the baler from tying or cutting twine. The baler plugged excessively in many different crop conditions. A variety of remedies were tried involving baby powder or cornstartch on the net rollers, new pickup teeth, friction tape on the drive rollers and adjusting the pitch of the pickup teeth none of which solved the problem. A friend of mine also had a 554XL that he just traded for a 504N, he hated his XL as much as I did mine. A neighbor has a 555XL and has had problems with it similar to what I described.
