The top corner of my beams were broke off, never thought about trying to weld them. The thing with doing like you are thinking about there would be nothing to create the shear force with tripping, it would just want to stretch and bend that bolt and not allow you to get the bolt out when it has the beam tilted just enough that it does not want to penetrate correctly. By the way mine was a semi mount 4-14" with the semi deep tillage bottoms and were hard to get parts for 25-30 years ago and I think the standard bottom would have done a nicer job of plowing, had to try to run deeper than I wanted.
