IHCPloughman, I think your right on just replacing the whole axle. Maybe a little bit more work but not much and don't risk breaking the cast piece, which is what I am after.
In the plow manuals I read though they all state to leave your drawbar locked in the straight back position and to flip it upside down so it's in it's highest position?
What I meant about the plow hitch, is between my 44 and 52 yes they are different. In the picture, see the bar the whole hitch is bolted to then the two irons are attached at the beams? Well on my 44 you can move that left to right, by a bolt hole, or by two bolt holes, and place it where ever you want. On the 52, I tried doing that and the holes don't line up! But there is one spot where say the holes are 2 inches apart, it's like someone drilled a hole, or else it's factory that they are 1 inch apart. What I mean is there are 3 holes closer together, then the rest are all even spaced. So I had to turn the bar end over end to get my plow offset enough to plow with my 38 inch wheels.
Am curious is all 52's are that way, or if the 12'' frame is different or something or what the deal is. But it doesn't just slide left to right one hole at a time the way my 44 did to get it set right. I will go over the math like you say and maybe I need to change it some more, but the furrow wheel with playing around with the angling bar on the hitch is setup about right now. But still looks like the tail-wheel is being pulled into the furrow wall when sitting on the tractor plowing.
