Those JD 100 balers where a join venture with Krone Hay equipment. They make a 31"x 31" bale. The big difference in it and most other intermediate balers is that they did not use a prechamber. Hesston and NH both use a prechamber so the flakes are actually separate. The JD 100 is just like most small square balers in that the hay is just fed into the chamber directly. Another difference is that the JD 100 just has a single knotter for each string. Most of the others have two knotters, one on top and one on the bottom. The JD 100 has a set of knives that will cut the hay into short pieces so the bales are easier to use in TMR wagons. They did work alright but parts are getting expensive. Unless it is real cheap I would go with a Hesston or NH. Mainly because of parts availability
