I switched quite a few trucks over to electric fuel pumps years ago with good luck. A few years ago my sister bought an old Propane company pickup truck. It has a supper clean body but had always been ran on propane. She wanted it back on gas. The original gas fuel system had not been used in years. So it was really messed up. I had a good carburetor off a new truck so I just switch them. The mechanical fuel pump was junk so I just plumbed in a electric one. The truck ran fine when she took it home. She only uses it every other week to go get horse feed/hay with. It get driven 50 miles each month. That is all. She called me after she had the truck back three months. So it had 150 miles on the truck since the pump was new. It had failed. I replaced it and the truck worked fine again. Two months later pump failed again. Took it back and paid the extra money to "up" grade to the one they sell to the dirt track racing guys. That one did not last two weeks.
So I found a US made mechanical fuel pump. I stood on my head(seemed like it) to replace it and that pump is still working fine.
I have had other guys talk about the shoddy electric pumps that you get in today's market place.
You may have to hunt up an original mechanical pump for your truck.

I had just talked my Dad into buying an old John Deere B with 6-speeds ahead and I was real proud of it, except it was a little smaller than the Case tractor that we normally
