Hadn't seen this post until today. Glad I saw it - neat to read about (and see) what you have all run. My Grandpa ran a thresher with neighbors until I think '67, when he bought a new IH 82. He ran that unitl the mid or late '80's when he started hiring his combining done. I ran it a couple years in the mid '90's, before I bought a well-worn Gleaner E (cab, 10'). The third and last year I had the E, my cousin ran it for me, and I ran an Oliver 525 (cab, 11', 2 row, Scour Kleen). Found a Ford 620 (open, 13') that I ran for one year, along with the Oliver. My cousin wan't around after that, so I sold the Oliver, scrapped the Ford, and bought a 985 New Holland (13', 4 RW, 6RN, cab). Ran that until it started giving problems (had covered LOTS of acres before I got it) and then sold it. Bought the NH 1400 I have now in '05 with about 1450 hours on it, just topped 2000 hours this year. Have added heads so I now have 4RW, 6RN, 13' and a pickup. Probably going to add another machine in a couple years... Luke is nearly big enough to run one, and LOVES combines.

What about the hum of your refrigerator? Or the thump of your clothes dryer? Maybe the engine of your car? You hear those sounds every day, and you don't think much about them, do you. I can think of a few common, ordinary sounds in my daily life, too.
