we picked 36" with a 38" head for several years works alright if your head is in good shape and adjusted correct ,your only off 3" on a 4 row head on the outer rows, inners are 1",we bought a good used A438 head this year, wanted a 36" but this one was to good to pass up it was in dire need of adjustment so we moved it to 36" while we had the tin off,row units weren't bad to move ,we shorten the dog bone drive shafts instead of buying new ones tin was the time consuming part, use to be several people that planted in 48" rows around here man i worked for picked a lot of it 3 rows with a 3 row 38" on a 410 Ferguson, most used a 2 row machine for 48"
