Combine - John Deere 4420. About 300 acres ago I put a new sealed ball bearing inside the upper variable speed pulley. This is the pulley that has the two belts - one driving the lower variable speed pulley and one powering the pulley. The bearing fits into the backside and goes against the combine frame when you push the pulley assembly on the combine.
Shouldn't this bearing last longer?? It is a good size bearing.
Is this a weak spot?
Did I get a bad bearing?
Did I do something wrong when I replaced it in 2010?
You can tell when the bearing goes bad, the pulleys move inward and start rubbing on the combine frame/sides. Not a terriable job to replace it. Thank you. andy
