IH established a company in Britain in the early 1900's and imported tractors & implements from USA . Over the years they brought in the Titan & Mogul, then the Farmall F-12, F-14, F-20, and the standard tractors like the 10-20, 15/30, W-12 & W-14
During WW2 under the Lease Lend agreement they imported the Farmall A/H,M, the standard W-4,W-6, W-9 and the T6/T9 crawlers with a host of implements.
In 1949 they build their own factory in Yorkshire County in northern England. They built their own variations of US tractors & implements adapted for British farming conditions. The first tractors were based on the Farmall M and W-6 fitted with British built kerosene or diesel engines; models were BM and BW6 in kerosene and BMD & BWD6 denoting diesel engines.
Over the years these were updated with a crude lift & lower 3 point powered by an external hydraulic ram. The last of these were the Super BWD-6 and Super BMD.
Here is a Super BWD-6 fitted with the cast iron rear & front wheels dating from around 1960.
The last models incorperated an inbuilt 3 point hitch without depth control and were re-named the B-450 Standard & Farmall B-450 rowcrop which had pressed steel front & rear wheel centres. In the 1960's these tractors were outdated and most of the production was exported; production ceased in 1966.
IH concentrated on building the small B-250/275/414 tractors which were the volume tractors used here. And their excellent range of tillage & grassland machinery
