Gary, You have a solid state ignition on this unit. It has the coil on the outside of the blower housing with a trigger unit on the outside of the flywheel under the blower housing. Do not under any circumstance put 12v to this igntion system, you will burn it up, if it is not already. The parts for that are quite pricy and I have put points on some of them with a battery ignition, never on an Electro 12, but have on a Bronco 14 and it worked good. Coil should be part number 236826-s-$105.86 and the trigger should be a237339-s--$129.38. And as said before, this unit has to have the correct switch, if he monkeyed with the wiring and who ever he bought the switch from gave him the wrong one, he might have just spent a whole bunch of money to repair his tractor.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
