I recently purchased a 1970 Blue/White Sears SS12 with loads of attachments including the 3 blade mower deck and the snowblower. After giving the mower deck a good cleaning and grease, I finally hooked up the mower deck and tried starting the tractor. The problem I'm having is that the tractor wont start while the mower is engaged. I assume that there is a way to "disengage" the mower belt until after starting the tractor? There's a small lever near the right floorboard that is disconnected but I assume is to disengage the mower but not sure where it connects too. Can I manually disengage the mower or is it meant to be on full time? TIA for any input.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
