Howdy I have just aquired 2 old Snapper rear engine riders, both are 319cc 8hp with both pull start and 12v starters. by the model numbers I can tell that one is a 1979 (190702) and it says Comet HV on the front end, the other looks similar but does not say comet it is a 1982(190707) The 79 frame and deck seem to be in pretty good shape with no rust or damage but the engine is missing parts. the 82 deck is trash, dents, torn metal and the blade is badly nicked up, the frame also needs welding in spots however it has a good engine that runs albeit a little white smoke. While there are some diferences in the frames and engines they are essentialy the same so I assume it's concevable to combine all the good salvagable parts into one mower. how do I identify the mower model? I can't seem to find parts like front end steering linkage bushings, clutch and break cables and the grips for the misc handels for droping the deck, and engaging the disc drive Thanks Anthony

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
