The AQS K Series is a simple points/coil ignition. Try using a 12volt jumper wire to the positive coil post. Then try cranking the engine over. If it starts, there is probably a faulty ignition switch. Burnt points will hamper starting as well, also using a non-internal resistor coil. When running, you should have about 28 volts of AC with a meter connected to the 2 outer terminals of the voltage regulator, which should be located on the coil side of the shroud. The center post is the 12 volt line. You can go to kohlerengines.com and download the factory K Series Service manual for free. Hope this helps. Kenny
