Sorry, guys, but I was sure that was the problem. I too looked at the diagram for this particular model but found no relay like I described. Sears lists this as a 1999 model. Mine is a 2000 model. I guess there is a difference. The function of the relay on my GT is to open and close circuits so the mower can function with the blades engaged and someone on the seat. The reason I thought this was the problem is that when I had my initial problem I ordered a seat switch and it didn't help. When I then found the relay (which has six poles, two of which are a normally open switch) it tested bad. When I replaced it everything functioned as it should. Before I replaced the relay the tractor would start but would die when I let the clutch out. Again, sorry for the misinformation.
