Oh man... I actually think these "debates" are just to get one's blood pumping. Cub Cadet vs John Deere vs Simplicity vs Sears versus.... etc.
Okay, what about the CaseIH Farmall line has a nice little tractor around the same size. What about Massey Ferguson garden tractors...aren't they made by Simplicity so same tractor just different paint and decals. What about a McCormick tractor? They have a neat little four wheel drive model. Or how about an Ingersoll? They've been around for years. As far as Sears........go out and buy a Roper whereas that is who makes their gartden tractors. Oh and for the gentleman that says you can buy a belt for them on a Saturday or Sunday. I agree up to a point. After so long that belt which by the way cost a LOT more than if you go to your local auto parts or fam store or even most hardware stores will have to be ordered thru Sears. So now your weekend mowing has to be put off until that belt comes in. (My ex brother in law had that very same problem. After three weeks he was tired of waiting and upon my suggestion went to the local True Value and bought a belt.)
As far as Cub Cadet versus John Deere or ANY other garden tractor or lawn tractor.... remember HOW you take care of ANYTHING is a major factor. I have seen a Cub Cadet beat to death in a couple of years and the same with a John Deere or any item. DEALER support should play a factor.
Summing it up I suggest this. You have two acres to mow. You haven't said if there are a lot of obstacles or not. Flat, rolling or whatever. I personally think the gentleman that suggested the Grasshopper has a good suggestion there. Now let me suggest this to you. Have you thought about goats, or a cow or two? Just think milk... meat...pets. (Now I will close with saying the last suggestion is in fun and not to be taken seriously.)

Today's Featured Article - Fire in the Field A hay fire is no laughing matter-well, maybe one was! And a good life-lesson, too. Following World War II many farm boys returned home both older and wiser. One such man was my employer the summer I was sixteen. He was a farmer by birth and a farmer by choice, and like many returning soldiers, he was our silent hero: without medals or decorations, but with a certain ability to survive. It was on his farm that I learned to use the combination hand clutch and brake on a John D ... [Read Article]
