Need some advice. The lawn tractor I bought last year that worked just fine when I parked it will not start. It is an older Cub Cadet 1120 (MTD years)with a 12.5 HP Kohler engine. I bought it from a trusted source last fall and it ran fine. I have only personally run it about an hour before it was parked for the winter. At first I figured it was just flooded. It will turn over and over and once in a while it was giving a massive backfire. I was giving the spark plug good cleanings with the torch, as well as clearing the gas out of the cylinder with it. It does have spark and I drained the old gas and put new in. What is really concerning me is that when I remove the spark plug, it is wet and black with what appears to be oil. I have quit trying as it is starting to mike slight funny noises when it turns over. I will probably take it to a small engine repair guy, but thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas. I'd rather save my experimental tinkering for engines I don't have to rely on. Thanks, Tony

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
