Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. The metal I was speaking of was all the sheet metal that (to me) seemed to be just covering up the real engine to make it look better to the non-mechanical eye. If it really has beneficial cooling properties, I will certainly put it all back on...probably will anyway. Thanks for confirming my guess that the intake valve keeper came off due to vibration. Makes me feel more confident that it shouldn't happen again as long as I pay closer attention to the mounting bolts. I think I'll add some split lock washers to those. Factory seems to think Nylock nuts are sufficient. I now believe otherwise. Thanks for the comments.
