I too have this problem with a K181S engine. I tried what you suggested a few years ago and it didn't work, but I'll try it again. I have noticed that the oil level is critical to the oil coming out of the breather. The dipstick on my engine is not that accurate a measurement (especially since the shaft seperated from the threaded plug at least once since I owned the tractor). I drained the oil and filled the crankcase with the exact factory recommended amount and then checked the level with the dipstick. I marked the stick and now make sure the level is never above that point. This helped the problem considerably. Since the engine also burns oil it's a bit of a pain to be so exact, where as before I felt a little extra wouldn't hurt. At least now I don't have all that oil all over the front of the motor.
