Hi G1355, 120 psi is good, as Joe posted it could be a lean setting of the idle circuit, turn the idle jet out about 1/4 turn and see if it starts and runs better if you make it too rich it will smoke black when the throttle is advanced, those are good old engines lots of power and torque and they do like gas. If you want a manual for the engine look for: B&S Repairman's Handbook for Older Engines 1919-1981 CE8069, it should be available on the web somewhere, it covers many engines and at first is a little hard to figure out but all the information is there.
The owner operators manual is available from B&S on there site, you'll need all the numbers off the blower housing Model type and code numbers.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
