Kevin, three thoughts. 1. Make sure the vent hole in your head cap is not plugged. This will Rob the engine of gas and cause it to die. The hole is in the direct center of the cap and is the size of a paper clip. If it is plugged, clean it. 2. You may be losing spark. This machine has a magneto ignition system that is not oil pressure protected. All you need for the tractor to run is the pto lever turned off and the park brake locked. Run it till it dies then check for spark right away. An online spark tester works the best. If you have no spark then replace the coil. 3. It sounds like your John Deere dealer is not so Brite. That Model has been around long enough that they should have known to do these tests. Sometimes it pays to drive farther to a better dealer. Tim
