Do you have an electric starter or starter/ generator? I think the 16hp tractors had electric starters. Use a hydrometer and check all the battery cells. They should read around 1.270 on a fully charged battery. If one has a reading of 1.100 you need a new battery. Clean all those battery connections until they're shiny. Do you have to press a pedal on the left side when making a start? I have that on my 14hp Wards tractor that grounds the solenoid. Use a volt meter and make sure there's voltage on your starter switch when you twist the key. Hal
