Do a goggle search for john deere 265+wiring diagram,from 4 drawings in row in search,click on 2nd pic from left,read posting/reply & look at wiring diag,rectifer/regulator probably remote mounted on tractor frame,look at wire colors at reg & see if they match colors in diag,if they do 2 blk wires are alt stator output(ac) & red wire on reg DC for charging battery,this reg also has a voltage/current sensor to light a battery discharge lite,internally in reg the output from reg may/may not disconnect from battery to protect reg/alt stator if battery discharge lite comes on,you may have to use oem reg to get charging system to operate correctly.
