I'm looking for some information on the Bolens Groundskeeper tractor. I recently purchased one of these articulated machines (pretty much complete but needing a lot of tlc to bring it back). It has a 2-cylinder 18hp Wisconsin model THD, serial number 4370482, 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 engine. That makes the engine a 1967. Does anyone know how many of these tractors were manufactured? I couldn't find a serial number on the tractor. Where would this be located? I found a parts manual, but would like to find an operators manual and any other information I can get on this machine. The mower deck had long-since been junked, but it has a cab and a 4 foot snow blower.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
