Check for an inline fuse in on eng wiring, briggs may have installed fuse in alt output lead, after that check owners manual for a wiring diagram, equipment mfg may have installed a fuse in wiring harness for alt output, also check for loose/bad plug in connectors in wiring harness & loose/bad connector/connections at ign sw.
If no blown fuse found & all connectors/connections good, tight & clean, disconnect output DC output lead on regulator, run eng 3/4-full throttle, measure output voltage, should be 13-14.5v DC,if no output from reg, disconnect stator leads from reg & measure AC voltage output from stator, this voltage may be between 20 & 40v AC depending on amp output of stator as briggs used four different amp output rateing stators for regulated output charging systems on vanguard eng,you may need a service manual for eng to test/troubleshoot & id alt stator, the AC output voltage on each stator is different depending on amp output of same.Possible causes of no AC output from stator, stator bad or missing/broken magnets in flywheel.
