Hydro drives, not that expensive to maintain, very expensive to repair you're dealing with hydraulics, just a little wear means replace the part. If the unit is in good shape and you keep the fluid clean, change the filters as recommended and don't over heat the system you won't see much trouble provided it was good to start with. Electric clutches- is a crap shoot, you can spend a good chunk of change on a regular clutch, some have to be adjusted, no such with the electrics I've dealt with you just change them when they go bad, now that we have non-OEM sources prices have come down some on them. Only backside on electric clutches is you have to keep your electricl system in better shape. Don't get me wrong I have a hydro Wheel Horse and I love it, but remember you're buying a more complex mower and has a general rule the more complex the more potential for problems, even if you buy it new.
