Just went thru all of that with a 25 ,first retreave your machine before the bill goes thru the roof! when you get the new pushrods first make sure that the engine is clean wash it down and then pull blower cover and clean some more ,the instructions Im going to give you are from Kohler they came in the box with the new starter ,telling the dealers that they were having too many warenty returns on starters first the engine has to cold remove both spark plugs rotate engine CCW backwards from the way it runs (that un-cocks the compression release )2 full turns stoping the left cylender on top dead center thats left sitting in front of the engine install push rods and back the ajusters off set the valves on that cyl to 0.005 in and ex still turning backwards bring the right cyl to tdc and install pushrods and set them the same way ! install plugs and valve covers start engine and check for leaks ,install all other stuff removed !
