How old is the fuel? Diesel will keep for a couple years in a closed tank with no foreign material in it. Have you changed the fuel filter? Checked the tank for rust, crud, etc.? Checked the fuel shutoff petcock for blockage? Checked the lines themselves for blockage? Are the injector lines sealing to the pump and injectors? Does the injector pump work? An electric fuel pump will only mask the real problem, not fix it. These reliable old mechanical diesels were designed for gravity feed fuel flow, and work extremely well when properly maintained. Check the whole system front to back before you start adding stuff that was never meant to be there. Hope this gives you some idea of what to look for. Sorry if it sounds like a rant, but there it is.
