Starting in Feb 1948, you could order a Fordson Major with a P6 Perkins six cylinder diesel engine. Kits were also sold to convert the gas-engined tractors to the six cylinder diesel. A four cylinder diesel Perkins conversion was also available. I have never seen a Fordson Major diesel installed in an older Fordson. I have never seen a P6 diesel installed in the 1952-64 Major, but Ford sold their own diesel engines to convert the gas-powered tractors.
