Howdy There: i have a 1961 FSM, though it has a motor from the FPM line, it does have a decompression lever on it. It was built in February of 1961 and that was the time when the Power Major became the Super Major, so my tractor has a little of the old and the new mixed in....One thing that i dont see on your motor is that the return line to the tank is missing...that or i just cant see it in the picture. Make sure that it is plumbed in correctly otherwise you"ll get air in the line and it will be difficult to start!....check to see if the fittings at the tank and the motor have no hairline cracks in them...one way to check is to crank the motor over a few times and check for air bubbles at the fittings...These lines are made of copper and over time from vibrations at low RPM"s they start to crack....that will be the fitting at the back of the motor, raps around the backside and turns left through the firewall, past the battery compartment and directly into the tank....But it seems that you might have bad cylinder rings, leaky injectors at the head to injector hole"s, and/or need a new head gasgit.... Hope this helps...

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
