The Fordson E27N Major was built at the Ford factory at Dagenham England from 1945 to 1951. 4 cylinder engine uprated from the Fordson N tractor to give 27HP, starts on gas and runs on vapourising oil. 3 F & 1 R gears.
The half track conversion was a bolt-on kit made by Roadless Traction of England. The rear frame & trailing axle bolted onto the tractor rear axle, and in theory could be removed to allow the tractor to be converted back to wheeled tractor - in practice few were swopped between tracks & wheels.
The vapourising oil engine was underpowered, Perkins developed a 6 cylinder diesel engine which were constructed in the Ford factory. And a 4 cylinder diesel engine which was available as a dealer fit.
