I am in the process of overhauling a 1953 Fordson Major Diesel Engine, first engine had stuck #4 piston, broken valves and bent pushrods, along with cracks between the middle cylinders. Got a replacement engine, that is seized, good cylinder head, and also found cracks in the middle of the engine along with a crack in left front corner going about halfway down the block. Question is it normal to have cracks in middle of engine. I work for Ford reapiring diesel engines on the trucks, and know if cracks were found engine is no good. So my question is these engine also know good with cracks, can they be repaired or need to find another block and rebuild the engine. Any help will be appreciated, also I am looking for torque specs for everything.
