I'm less familiar with the 5000s than I am the 2/3/4000 size. On the 26/46/4600 tractors Ford installed a T handle and bracket that made it easier to reach. I had to slightly enlarge the hole in the 3000 step plate to make it work. I like it a lot better. I assume the 56/6600 tractors would be the same. The second photo shows the farmerized T handle Fordfarmer mentioned on a 4000 I recently bought. It works surprisingly well so that I think I will leave it on there.
