The tapered hole for the ball joint on the back end of the steering cylinder where it fits into the radius rod on the 3000 is the same as the tapered hole on the on the 3400 radius rod. I am not familiar with any shims where the cast iron pan bolts to the bolster. I was able to reuse the studs on mine but can see no reason why bolts wouldn't work just fine. There were also two large bolts - 3/4"? that bolted the rear end of the CI pan to the tranny. Some of the older 2/3000s did not have those holes drilled in the tranny though most of the later ones did. If yours are drilled I would use them. If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
