i spent way too much time fixing them PA rims to get rid of them.
previous moron owner welded the discs tot he centers ALL the way around. added triangular gussets that he welded on.. and then took a piece of metal bentingto a spiral and tacked that on too.. just for good measure!
and the rims were not rusted up or eat up either. all in 99% condition. some of the best spin outs i've seen. less wear on them than the spinn outs on my 4000 even. I swapped some spare rubber to them and then took an entire winter and spring to break them monsters down and torch and air chissle and die grinder them discs off the rims. then clean up all the weld marks, and get the center clean so it would PA adjsut again.
can't for the life of me understand why the PO did that. here's the kicker. they were adjusted differently too! not even set the same. not even close!
as for 12v... she already is. ;) that's s stealth conversion using a gen from a diesel 01.
Like I said. this on'es almost a parts machine. I got parts from like 7 other tractors on her. Bought some from members here and some i had leftover from other rowcrops..e tc.
when i got her.. she had no charge system at all.. just a pulled tied in place. useless tin and a vw tank tied in with a garden hose! wrong carb.. no battery box.. bad air celaner.. etc.. etc.. some damaged parts in the rear end. steering was bad.. lots of stuff inthe front pedistal is worn beyond hope. I went in there and did some advanced part-if-ication and farm engineering and now she's driveable .. but I really need a new front pedistal on her... but darn it.. she starts good :)
radiator is from a small import car... was fun adapting that one over.... ;)
i use her as my rough area mower. i put a bumper on the front and will take her straight into the bushes on the edges of property or around trees. I'm not afraid of hurting any nice paint or anything... and with her steering.. i don't get too close to the fence line except in 1st or 2nd gear ;)

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
