when you had it apart, that was the time to R&R the thrust bearings and adjust the shim stack.
if the steering wheel rises or falls slightly as you turn the wheel lock to lock with the front end jacked up.. you need to repalce those thrust bearings. if no rise / fall, check your sector adjustment.. you can do those externally.. loosent he sector stud lock nuts and then adjust the sector studs in with a large screwdriver till they just snug up.. don't try torquing them.. they will make the steering stiff if you do. adjust left side first.. then right side.
