Follow up post regarding heaters on the 4500. Battery heater works well. Hydro fluid heater works great. Radiator hose heater just OK.
Plugged in btw 2-3 hrs before I start it works well. Hydro oil in nose reservoir nice and hot.
When I let it warm up about 15 minutes and then I slowly work loader. Let it idle another 5 minutes and then slowly work hoe except for swing cylinders. Eliminates pump squawking due to cold, thick fluid. It does groan under load until all fluid gets warmed up. But overall major improvement. Closed to 3 hrs plugged in starts OK. I am sure it would be better with a "real" battery. Pete

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
