Check the oil pressure with a gauge. Our 9000 cam gear stripped all its teeth off that drives the oil pump and we lost oil pressure. I was finding metal flakes on the previous oil change and they were the cam gear coming unglued.
There is a metal plug that can be removed underneath the oil filter on the block. This is where the cam grive gear is for the oil pump.
